Sandra "Sandy" Davis VanAmburgh - Class of 1958

    Sandra "Sandy" Davis VanAmburgh - entered into rest on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. She was born on August 14, 1940, in Newburgh, NY. She was 82 years old. She was married to the Love Of Her Life, Robert R. Van Amburgh for 53 years before his passing on November 1, 2011. Together they were blessed with 3 wonderful children, Robert W. (Marianne), Michael (ex-wife Penny) and Susan, and 4 grandchildren: Nicole Marie, Alexis Olivia (fiance Christopher Butler), Madison Rose and Michael S. and 1 great-grandson, Christopher Evan Butler Jr., whom she absolutely adored. She is also survived by her loving nephews and niece, William Henderson (Suzanne), Richard Kress, Deborah Cottini (Rino); and her great-nieces, Amanda and Lori Henderson and Larissa (fiance John Taylor) Cottini. She was also survived by many special cousins, friends and neighbors. She was predeceased by her parents Borden Davis and Edith (Lee-Lee Rose) Davis; her Beloved sisters, Wilma Kress and Marlene Day; and her brother-in-law, Robert Day. Sandy was a retired employee of the Newburgh Enlarged City School District at Newburgh Free Academy – Main Campus as a secretary in the Special Education Department for over 40 years. During her tenure at NFA she made many amazing and life-long friends, especially her "Posse", Felicia Cracolici-Caswell, Carmela Rupp, Susan Schultz and Joanne Silva. Sandy loved to spend time at the Borgata Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, NJ and at her "Happy Place", the beach in Wildwood Crest, NJ. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Thursday, March 9th at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, NY with a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, March 10th at 10AM at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor, NY.
