Eleanor Georgia Slack Casasanta aged 90 of Charlotte NC,
formerly of Newburgh NY, passed away on March 4, 2023 in
Harris Hospice Novant Presbyterian hospital after a short
illness. She was born in Newburgh NY on July 29, 1932.
Graduated from Newburgh Free Academy. Married William (Bill)
Casasanta in Newburgh NY on Feb 1, 1953. William was in the
Air Force and they not only lived in Newburgh and Charlotte
but lived in England and in Montgomery Alabama. Eleanor
loved her church The Holy Trinity in Charlotte and all of
the many, many friends she had there. She loved her
independence and didn't stop driving until a week before she
went into the hospital. Her house and her yard were her
pride and joy. Eleanor is survived by her daughter Debra
Casasanta of Charlotte and her son Keith Casasanta and his
wife Brenda of Gastonia. Her grandsons Adam Schnier of
Charlotte and her grandson Evan Casasanta and his wife
Olivia and their two children Parker and Teddy of Concord
NC. Her sister Ethelyn Clearwater of Newburgh NY and many
nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by husband William in 2002, her parents
Fred and Hetty Slack, sister Muriel Kissam and brother
William Slack.
There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday March 11, 2023
beginning at 11am at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1900 the
Plaza, Charlotte NC. In Lieu of flowers please send
donations to Holy Trinity or to Harris Hospice at Novant
Presbyterian Hospital on Hawthorne Ave, Charlotte NC. Fond
