William Babcock - Class of 1952

    William Edward Babcock, age 89, of Mount Holly, N.J. and New Windsor, NY, passed away peacefully at his home in New Jersey on Friday, March 10, 2023. He was the son of the late Elmer and Marion (Mills) Babcock. He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years Ann (FitzGerald) Babcock, his son David Babcock and wife Sherry (Griffith) Babcock, grand-daughter, Melissa (Babcock) Sample, two great-grandsons, Liam and Shane Sample, his sister Shirley Early, brothers Edward, John and Donald, and many Nieces and Nephews. Bill was predeceased by his oldest son William Elmer Babcock, his sister Marion LeMunyan, and brothers George and Robert. Bill worked for many years as a chemical engineer for Dupont, Airco, and for twenty years at Occidental Petroleum. After he retired from Occidental Petroleum, he formed William Babcock and Associates, a chemical engineering consulting company, which he operated for another twenty years. Bill was an old school American who was not afraid of hard work. Bill was a life member of the New Windsor Fire Department for over seventy years and held many Firematic and Company positions during those years. Bill enjoyed hanging out at the Fire House with his old friends and new friends solving local and national problems.

Services will be private, and his burial will take place at a later date at the family plot in New Windsor, New York.
