David John Barton, 72, of Shallotte, NC, passed away on Palm Sunday, April 2, 2023, surrounded by his family. Dave is preceded in death by his father John F. Barton Sr., and his mother Mary A. Barton (Ostrander). Dave, also known as "Poppy" to many, was a kind and thoughtful soul and will be missed and remembered by the many whose lives he touched. His faith always guided him throughout his life. He enjoyed telling stories, making everyone laugh, spending time with his family at the beach, watching movies from the 1930's to present, and cheering on his beloved NY Yankees. His life was devoted to family, and his faith always worked to keep them close. This was the greatest gift that he gave to his family. He was loved by all, and will be forever missed. He was born in Newburgh, NY on October 31, 1950, graduated in 1968 from Newburgh Free Academy and attended Miami-Dade College. He was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 373 for 41 years. David is survived by his wife Linda, his sister Kathy Dino, his brother John Barton Jr. and spouse Mary Eileen. He is also survived by his loving daughters and their spouses, Megan Corsetti (Darren), and Amanda Addeo (Chris). David had three step-children: William and Robert Dietz, and Jody Tremblay. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Summer Falgiano (Jordan), Ava and Jake Corsetti, Jerry and Gracie Addeo, and step grandchildren William Celtruda, Zakkary Dietz and Cierra Pinto and great grandson Jayden Pinto. Dave was uncle to 6 nieces and nephews: Charles, Matthew and Alysha Dino, Kristin Johnson (goddaughter), Katherine Goertzen, Sean Barton (godson), and great uncle to Alec and Katelyn Dino, Rosemary and June Johnson, and Tommy Goertzen. Our family would like to thank the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick - Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, Bolivia NC for their compassion and care. Donations can be made to them directly in Dave's memory, Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. - Published by Brunswick Funeral Service - Shallotte on Apr. 4, 2023.
