Donald "Don" Robert Scott, 69, of Urbandale, Iowa, passed
away peacefully on April 14, 2023 at MercyOne Hospice in
Johnston with his wife of 46 years by his side. Don was born
on October 7, 1953 in Newburgh, NY to Robert and Bette Jane
Scott. At the age of 22, he met the love of his life,
Annamarie ("Annie"). The two were married on May 14, 1977 in
Newburgh, NY. Don and Annie moved to Bradenton, FL in 1978
where they spent most of their adult lives. In Florida, he
worked at Cox Chevrolet for 19 years and would later move on
to spend 15 years working for Tropicana. The couple
relocated to Iowa in 2021 to be closer to their
granddaughters, Ava and Ellison. While Don did not enjoy the
cold winters in Iowa, he would put up with almost anything
to spend time with his girls. Don was a highly devoted
husband, father, and poppy - his family was always his top
priority. He loved Chevy cars, enjoyed NASCAR races, liked
working on puzzles, and was an avid Dale Earnhardt fanatic.
His collection of Earnhardt cars and memorabilia is a sight
to behold! Don was known for his gentle demeanor, silly
sense of humor, and go-to sayings (One day at a time, Step
into my office, Go easy, and Hey Frank! are just the tip of
the iceberg). His love ran deep, and his big smile will be
greatly missed. Those left to cherish his memory are his
wife, Annamarie; sons, Adam (Kathryn) Scott of Frisco, TX
and Christopher (Kelsey) Scott of Johnston, IA;
granddaughters, Ava Cochran and Ellison Scott; twin sister,
Donna Kemp of Bradenton, FL; many nieces and nephews; and
dog, Max. He was preceded in death by his parents.
