Ellen Joan Taylor Stortecky, age 90, of Trumbull, passed
away peacefully on Friday, May 5, 2023 at The Bridges in
Trumbull with her loving family by her side. She was the
beloved wife of 68 years to Bernard John Stortecky. Born in
Newburgh, NY on September 10, 1932, she was the daughter of
the late Francis Walter Taylor and Alma (Bartholomew) Taylor
and was a longtime resident of Wilton before moving to
Trumbull.
After raising and caring for her family, Joan drove a school
bus for disabled children in the Wilton, Fairfield and
Westport school systems. She was a talented artist and
singer and enjoyed painting and sang in the church choir at
St. Theresa Church in addition to volunteering with the
church's Healthcare Ministry. Joan's greatest joy came from
her family. She and Bernie were inseparable, they did
everything together in their 68 years of marriage. Her
husband, children and grandchildren were the most important
part of her life.
In addition to her loving husband, Bernard, survivors
include her three loving children, Mark Stortecky and his
wife June of Lompoc, CA, Susan Tavella and her husband Jim
of Norwalk and Megan Ramous and her husband John of Reno,
NV, a brother, John Taylor of San Jose, CA and four
cherished grandchildren, Luke Ramous, Caroline Walton,
William Ramous and Katherine Tavella, as well as many nieces
and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on
Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. directly in St.
Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull. Interment will be
