Brenda Joyce Emory Duffie of Mountainville, NY passed away
on May 7, 2023 at the Westchester Medical Center/ Mid-Hudson
Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY. She was 75 years old.
Born on August 14, 1947, in Newburgh, NY. She was the
daughter of Martha and Glenn Emory; and survived by her
husband of 37 years, Ray Duffie; a brother Gary; a nephew
Tyler; and her cousin Larry Severo. She was a graduate of
Newburgh Free Academy and the State University College at
New Paltz. She received her degree in elementary education
and did her student teaching in the Enlarged Newburgh City
School District. She worked for the USPS Distribution Center
at Stewart Airport and was a co-owner and employee of Ray L.
Duffie Electric before retiring. Brenda was a member of
Grace United Methodist Church; where she volunteered in the
Nearly New Shoppe and taught 5th and 6th grade Sunday school
with her husband. Brenda made many friends here at the
church as they traveled to New York City for Broadway shows
and dinners. She enjoyed the extended trips into
Pennsylvania and Rhode Island they took, and she especially
loved going to Florida with her best friend, Joyce, to Tampa
for Yankee's spring training. Brenda always looked forward
to the many trips we took up to Maine, and she thought the
most beautiful place on earth was Maui. A visitation will be
held at Hudson Valley Funeral Home 239 Quassaick Avenue New
Windsor, NY on Tuesday May 16th from 10:00am - 12:00 noon.
Funeral service will follow visitation. Burial will
immediately follow in Woodlawn Cemetery New Windsor, NY The
family would like to thank all medical staff at Westchester
Medical Center, Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital, and the entire
staff of Hudson Valley Hospice for their treatment, care and
concern. God bless them all.
