Beverly Brand Donato, born in Newburgh NY, on April 23, 1941, passed away on May 12, 2023, at her home in Grass Valley, California. She was 82 years old. Bev was predeceased by her parents Frank Brand and Mary Sparks Brand and her loving partner, Charles Piccinnini. She is survived by her sister, Sue Brand Maps-Hulick, and her children, Craig Donato, Hilary Odoy, and Cindy England, and their respective spouses. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, to whom she was affectionately known as Grammy. Beverly was an artist at heart. She graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1958 and from SUNY New Paltz in 1962. She received her master's degree in arts education from SUNY New Paltz in 1989. As an art educator, Beverly held a passion for helping students make personal connections with art, promoting a student's education with their own inherent creativity. She was an Art Teacher at St. Thomas of Canterbury School in Cornwall on Hudson, Sacred Heart School in Newburgh, Bishop Dunn Memorial at Mount St. Mary's College, and at Fostertown Magnet School of Creative and Performing Arts, of Newburgh NY. Beverly was a published author sharing her student's work in School Arts Magazine. She won numerous awards during her career, such as the Middletown Art Group Artist on Campus, at MSMC. She has held art exhibits throughout the Hudson Valley. After retirement, she taught various adult art classes at Sarabrae Women's Center, Walkhill River Art School, and even at Eskaton Senior Living. Volunteering was a way for her to share her creative talents with others. She also loved doing art projects with her grandchildren who also share her love for art.

A private memorial service is planned for July 2, 2023, in Lake Tahoe, CA. Please email cdonato@gmail.com (with subject 'Beverly') if you are interested in remotely attending the memorial through Zoom.
