Stanley Rhodes - Class of 1950

Stanley E. Rhodes, of the Town of
Newburgh, entered into rest on Wednesday, June 14, 2023,
after a brief illness. He was 92. Son of the late Raymond D.
and Viola A. (Peters) Rhodes, he was born on March 27, 1931
in the Town of Newburgh. A lifelong area resident, Stanley
was a retired lab technician for I.B.M., East Fishkill. A
graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, he proudly served his
country with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He was a 70-year member of the Justin P. Galloway Post 152
American Legion and a former member of the Winona Lake
Engine Co. #2. For many years he belonged to the Good
Fellowship Dart Ball League, the National Horseshoe Pitchers
Association of America and was an umpire for United Slow
Pitch Softball Association (USSSA). Stanley was also
instrumental in the formation of the Town of Newburgh Little
League, and was a member of the Grace United Methodist
Church, Newburgh. Survivors include one brother, Albert
Rhodes of NJ; two sons, Stanley (Penny) Rhodes of Longmont,
CO, and Jeffrey (Pamela) Rhodes of Milton, NY; two
daughters, Cindy Caradec of Poughkeepsie, NY, and Joanne
(Bryan) Newton of Longmont, CO; seven grandchildren,
Christopher, Jocelyn, Graem, Fallon, Noah, Jeffrey, and
Paige; ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife,
Frances V. (Shepro) Rhodes in 2020, and siblings, Violet,
Howard, Evelyn, Clayton, and George. The family would like
to thank the staff and caregivers at The Manor at Woodside,
in Poughkeepsie, where he recently enjoyed their community
for assisted living. Visitation for family and friends will
be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, June 19, 2023 at
White, Venuto and Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188
N. Plank Road, Newburgh, NY 12550.
