Carl David Ostergren passed away peacefully on
May 31, 2023 in Melbourne, Florida at the age of 86. He was
born on December 28, 1936 in Newburgh, New York to Carl F.
Ostergren and Ruth Harrsen Ostergren. His family always
called him David (Dave). Dave was a 1954 graduate of
Newburgh Free Academy. He joined the U.S Air Force and was a
mechanic for the F-86 and F-102 fighter jets. Dave had a
life-long love for airplanes and obtained his private
pilot's license while he was in the Air Force. After serving
4 years, he attended Orange County Community College on the
G.I. Bill and studied engineering. He married Carole Ann
Ugarte on June 18, 1961. Dave was employed as an engineer
with IBM in Fishkill, NY and held multiple U.S. Patents in
chip heating/cooling. He took an early retirement and was
able to enjoy boating, traveling, and family gatherings for
many years. He and Carole spent winters at their home on the
Banana River, always returning to Wallkill in early Spring.
Dave was proud of his children and grandchildren. He helped
all of them through college in various ways and was able to
attend all of his grandchildren's college graduations from
New York to California. Dave will be remembered for his love
of family, his sense of humor, and his mechanical ingenuity.
He was a steadfast friend and always ready to lend a hand to
his friends and family. He is survived by his loving wife
Carole, daughter Lauren and (Wade); son David Erik (Nancy)
and four grandchildren, Madeleine, Chloe, David and Erik. He
is also survived by his brother William F. Ostergren. His
sister, Sally Ruth Sheley, predeceased him. The family would
like to express our gratitude to St. Francis Reflections of
Melbourne, Florida for their compassionate care. - Posted
