Christine "Chris" Cangialosi Pacenza Byrd, 72, passed away Friday, August 5, 2022 at Scotland Memorial Hospital. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Ms. Byrd's funeral service has been postponed and arrangements will be announced at a later date. Born February 23, 1950 in Berlin Germany, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Cangialosi and Margot Myller Cangialosi Byrd. Chris worked in food service for Newburgh, NY and Scotland County school districts. She had a love for animals and children. Working in the schools she loved helping a child when needed. She had a special love for the "special children" in the schools. She also loved animals which led to pet sitting for them. The compassion, love and feelings she had for animals, they knew she was a friend and would do everything to help them. Most of the time they became part of her family. Looking into their eyes told a story, which melted her heart. Chris focused on reading and studying her Bible. She loved to watch Walker Texas Ranger and other inspirational television. Gospel music was her favorite. She enjoyed being with her family and pets. She idolized her precious granddaughter, Samantha and special grandson Christopher. Chris was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend that will truly be missed. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, son, Mark Joseph Pacenza and his wife Stefanie of the home; her wonderful and precious grandchildren, Samantha Marie Pacenza and Christopher Mark Pacenza; precious great-grandchildren, Ava Marie and Chrisean Lester, Jr.; brother, Foster Cangialosi of Orlando, FL; sister-in-law, Beth Lauderdale of Jacksonville, FL; and her pets. She is preceded in death by her husband, Boyd T. Byrd; step-father, Adley George Byrd; and brothers, Samuel Cangialosi, Jr. and William Cangialosi.
