Gerald Williams - Class of 1961

Gerald
M. Williams, a longtime resident of Newburgh, NY, entered
into rest on Monday, July 31, 2023. The son of the late
James N. and Dorothy (Auchmoody) Williams, he was born April
7, 1942, in Newburgh. A 1961 graduate of Newburgh Free
Academy, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army 3rd Infantry
Division. Gerald was a retired electrician from Local 363
(formerly 631) and also from the Town of Newburgh Highway
Department where he served as CSEA President. He was a
former Town of Newburgh Republican Committeeman, a former
member of the Town of Newburgh Recreation Advisory Board and
a USSSA umpire for the Town of Newburgh. Over the course of
many years he was a coach for the Town of Newburgh Little
League, Town of Newburgh Men & #39's League and Women
& #39's League and was an assistant football coach at
the New York Military Academy. Gerald with the aide of his
wife delivered meals for the Office of the Aging. He also
had the privilege to escort two World War II Veterans to
Washington D.C. on the April 2014 Honor Flight. Gerald is
survived by his wife of 57 years Patricia Stillwell
Williams, sons David and his wife Lori of Pine Bush and
Steven and his wife Paula of California. He was so proud of
his grandchildren Tyler David, Riley, Preston and Naomi.
Gerald is also survived by his brother James Williams and
wife Alisa, sister Sharon Warren, brother-in-law Adrian
Stillwell and several nieces and nephews. God saw him
getting tired and brought him home to rest. He will leave a
void in our lives.
A Graveside Service will be held 11:30 am, Thursday, August
3, 2023 at Wallkill Valley Cemetery in Walden, NY, with
Military Honors.In memory of Gerald's life, donations may be
