Michael K. Thompson, 92, of Coldenham, NY went to be with the Lord on September 2, 2023, lovingly surrounded by family. Mike was born on November 22, 1930 in New Windsor, NY to Louis and Theresa Thompson. He had seven brothers and sisters: Eddie (wife Nancy), Freddie (wife Ellen), Frances (husband Chuck), Rosie (husband Wes), Clara (husband Stanley), Helen (husband Ed), and Junior; and he was close with his half-brother Anthony. In high school, Mike met Pete De Rosa and Ralph Risio, who would remain lifelong friends and hunting partners. After graduating from NFA in 1950, Mike served in the U.S. Navy on a cruiser and an aircraft carrier during the Korean Conflict. He often recounted how he met and first danced with the love of his life, Ella Valdina; they married on March 8, 1953 and recently celebrated their 70th anniversary. After his military service, Mike graduated from SUNY Delhi with honors and worked in construction as a foreman, supervisor and President of Carpenters Local Union 301. He always looked forward to sharing a Greek meal with his close friend and fellow carpenter Pete Karnevezos. In his free time, Mike enjoyed hosting and socializing at parties, playing and listening to music, hunting, and spending time with his family. His Catholic faith accompanied him during joyful celebrations and difficult times. Mike was predeceased by his siblings, his son Robert and his grandson Philip. He is survived by his wife Ella; children Toni (husband Ron) Revelle, Joe (wife Laura) Thompson, Phil (wife Kathy) Thompson, and Michael Thompson; grandchildren Kris Revelle, Mary (husband Jeremiah) Wingerden, Joshua Revelle, Joe (wife Christie) Thompson, Michael (wife Michelle) Thompson, David Thompson, Andrea (husband Daron) Smith, Erica (husband Eamonn) McGorman; several great and great-great-grandchildren, sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 6 at Brooks Funeral Home from 4-7pm. The funeral Mass will be offered at Most Precious Blood Church in Walden on Thursday, September 7 at (TBD) followed by burial at Wallkill Valley Cemetery in Walden. Mike's family is deeply grateful to the medical and support staff of St. Luke's Hospital for filling his final days in this world with compassion, care and dignity; we ask for God's greatest blessings on all of you. - November 11, 1930 ~ September 2, 2023
