Lawrence "Larry" Hill, Sr. was the son of the late Willie
Hill and Nezzie Hill; he was born January 1, 1949, in
Carthage, NC, moved to Marlboro, NY, at the age of four
months, and later moved to Newburgh, NY. He resided with his
lovely wife, Gaye D. Hill, in Duluth, GA. He transitioned
peacefully on Sunday, October 22, 2023. Larry was a graduate
of Newburgh Free Academy; after high school, he was a
soldier in the U.S. Army, a student at Staten Island
Community College, Newburgh Youth Core Center Counselor
where he worked with inner city youth, General Motors for 30
plus years where later retired. After retirement, Larry
enjoyed talking and hanging out with his buddies James
Butler and Patrick Burrows. Larry was passionate about
sports as he played on the Newburgh Glen Hine's Men Baseball
team in his earlier years. Larry was preceded in death by
his beloved parents, Willie Hill, Sr, and Nezzie Hill, and
his mother-in-law Helen Washington; 3 sisters, Bettie
McClain, Gladys James, and Patricia Hill; and 1 brother,
Willie Hill, Jr. He lives to cherish 26 years of loving
memories to his wife, Gaye D. Hill, of the home; One Uncle
Charlie Davis; His loving children DeNita Henderson
(William), Janenda Smith (Michael), Tiffany Hill, Ulonda
Hill, and Devel Hill all of Charlotte, NC, Ayanna Lewis,
Lawrence Hill, Jr (Jessica), and Krishna Washington,
Georgia; 26 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family will
receive friends Wednesday, November 1, 2023 from 12:00 PM
until 1:00 PM with a service at 1:00 PM at Bill Head Funeral
