Kevin
V. Hunt of Wallkill, NY, passed away unexpectedly on
November 9th, 2023. He was 74. The son of Robert & Emma
Hunt, he was born July 15, 1949 in Newburgh NY. As a young
man, Kevin served in the Armed Forces and took great pride
in serving his country. He continued his service by joining
the Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer and
retired 27 years later as a Deputy Superintendent for
Programs. He owned and operated Hunt Ceramic Tile for over
30 years and also found the time to get involved in
politics. Kevin joined the Environmental Commission in the
Town of Shawangunk in 1988. He became a Town Councilman in
1990. He rose to Town Supervisor in 1992 which he served for
6 years before serving a term as an Ulster County
Legislator. Kevin was currently serving as Town Justice for
which he had been for nearly 20 years. Kevin lived a full
life and lived every day according to his motto, “Life is
good”. He has a large loving family and many good friends.
He had an undeniable zest for life, a tenacious work ethic,
and a kind heart. He was heavily invested in his friends,
family, and community. He was a dedicated husband, father,
and grandfather. Kevin was passionate about his “toys”. He
loved his motorcycles and his muscle cars, which he’d been
driving, building, and rebuilding since he was a young man.
He found contentment in both the menial things in life as
well as the finer things; from chopping wood to expensive
wine and imported cigars. He really did it all. Survivors
include his wife Magda Hunt at home; daughter Amanda
Demshick & Wayne Erickson; son Gregory & Kristie
Hunt; son Derrick & Tara Saunders; and son Jared &
Kayla Pillitteri. Siblings; Elaine Hunt, Ken Hunt, David
Hunt, and Robin Scalfari, along with his many nieces and
nephews. Six grandchildren; Alex & Sydney Demshick,
Tyler & Emilia Demshick, Britney Demshick, Raelyn
Demshick, Landen Saunders, Jett Pillitteri, Parker Saunders,
and Kanon Pillitteri. Four Great Grandchildren; Lilliana
Demshick, Zain Demshick, Finley Demshick, and Soren
Demshick. He was predeceased by his parents Emma and Robert
