Mary Elizabeth Domalavage Meddaugh - Class of 1960

    Mary Elizabeth Domalavage Meddaugh "Betty" passed silently through this life on the morning of November 11, 2023 at home in the care of her loving family. She is survived by her husband of fifty seven years, Thomas M. Meddaugh and two children, Therese Meddaugh Jenkins and Thomas E. Meddaugh all living in Daniel Island SC. She is predeceased by her daughter Kathleen Meddaugh, her mother Mary Patricia Harding Domalavage and father Staff Sargent Albert Domalavage both of New Windsor, New York, and her brother Albert James Domalavage of Honolulu, Hawaii. Born September 5, 1942 in St, John's, Newfoundland Canada; after WWII she traveled with her family and lived several years in France, then to Colorado and finally settled in New Windsor, New York where she graduated from Newburgh Free Academy high school in 1960, Orange County Community College for her A.A.S Nursing Degree in 1979; B.S. in Health Care Management and Community Health from SUNY (State University of New York), New Paltz , Suma Cum Laud, in 1991. Mary had a long and distinguished career as a Registered Nurse. She was licensed and worked in New York, New Jersey, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina. Her experience includes Staff Nurse hospital work, Occupational Health Nurse, Nurse Manager, Behavioral and medical home care, Psychiatric home care and elder care. Mary was a loving mother who birthed three beautiful children. Her faith gave her strength to endure many health problems including survival of breast cancer, over fifty years of Type1 diabetes, two heart procedures, legal blindness and dementia. There will be visitation for family and friends on Friday November 17, 2023 from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm in the Chapel of White, Venuto & Morrill Funeral Service, 188 N. Plank Rd. Newburgh NY 12550. A Funeral Service will follow at 12:30 pm at the Funeral Home. Immediately afterwords, burial will take place in the family plot in The Cedar Hill Cemetery, 5468 Rt. 9W, Newburgh NY. In lieu of flowers please donate to your local Heart Association, Diabetes Association or Alzheimer/ Dementia Association.
