Betty L. Hyzer Smith, of New Windsor, entered into rest
Friday, November 17, 2023. She was 85. Daughter of the late
Emmett W. and Ethel T. (Dunn) Hyzer, she was born October 6,
1938 in Newburgh, NY. A lifelong area resident, Betty was a
retired program manager with A.H.R.C., Broadway, Newburgh,
now now by Arc Greater Hudson Valley New York. She was a
1958 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and a member of
Gardnertown United Methodist Church. She was also a life
member of Arc Greater Hudson Valley New York. Survivors
include a daughter, Julie A. (Charles) Bell, of New Windsor,
NY; three grandchildren, Jessica, Samantha and Alexandia;
and four great grandchildren, Jackson, Ryder, Nathaniel and
Audrey. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by
her husband John H. Smith in 2022; a son, Jeffrey W. Smith
in 2015; two brothers, Clifford Hyzer and Robert W. Hyzer;
and a sister, Dorothy Korchinsky.
Private internment will take place
at Gardnertown Cemetery.
