Helene "Lee" Alpern Lieberman, 90, of Albany NY passed away
on December 1, 2023, at The Teresian House. She was born in
Newburgh, N.Y. to Harry and Sarah Alpern. Lee left Newburgh
at the age of 17 to attend Albany Teachers College
(currently SUNY Albany) where shortly after she met and
subsequently married the love of her life, Bert. They were
married for 68 years before his passing in 2020. Lee and
Bert raised four daughters, Risa (d.2010), Joni (Don Basen),
Marcy (Jeff Weisburgh), and Amy (Marc Flatt). They were so
proud of their five grandchildren, Elyse (Jed Sigal), Betsy,
Jenna, Ari (Jennifer) and Iyal. They were both so thrilled
to meet their great-grandson, Riley Issac Sigal, when he was
born three years ago. It gave her such joy and pride to hear
him call her "GG Lee." Lee was a passionate crafter and
knitter which inspired her to become an entrepreneur and
proprietor of the hugely successful A Stitch in Time yarn
shop. Lee loved to entertain and frequently lavished her
family and friends in N.Y. and Fla. with spectacular dinner
parties. May these sweet reminiscences fill the hearts of
those who loved her. May her memory be a blessing. Those
wishing to remember Lee in a special way can make memorial
contributions in her name to The Einhorn Center for Jewish
Education at Temple Beth Emeth, 100 Academy Rd., Albany,
N.Y. 12208, or to the charity of your choice. Funeral
services will be held on Sunday December 3 at 1:00 p.m. at
The Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Ave. in Albany
followed by burial at Congregation Beth Abraham Jacob
Cemetery, Western Ave., in Guilderland. To leave a message
of condolence for the family online, please visit http://Levinememorialchapel.com
