Jane Minckler Jennings - Class of 1948

    Jane Minckler Jennings, 92, of Niskayuna, passed away on November 29th, 2023. Born on August 10th, 1931 in Newburgh NY, to Maurice and Edith (Foster) Minckler, she grew up and attended school in Newburgh until she attended New York State College for Teachers at the age of 16. Prior to graduating, she married the love of her life, William Jennings Sr. in Albany NY on July 14th, 1950. Jane was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Jane spent most of her life in Niskayuna NY. She loved her family and teaching. She taught many years in Niskayuna public schools. She enjoyed sharing memories of her students and fellow teachers. Jane loved spending her summers on Block Island, Rhode Island. She loved the beach, swimming in the ocean and spending time with her "beach ladies". Jane was predeceased by her husband William R. Jennings Sr. her brother, Ernest Minckler and her parents. She is survived by, her children, William Jennings Jr. (Cindy), of Lynchburg Virginia, her daughter, Pamela Hildreth, (Guy) of Rotterdam NY and her daughter Shirla Scotto (Robert) of Niskayuna NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren, John Taylor (Diane), Rachel Watkins, Hannah Torres (Jose), Kathleen Jennings (Rachel), Sarah Harper, Robert Jennings, Michael Scotto (Shayna) and David Scotto as well as 14 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her three nieces, Mary Delessio, Susan Strano, and Kathy Cerrone. Jane will always be remembered as the one to bring the family together for the holidays, birthdays and other events. Everyone was welcome in her home. Jane was active in AAUW, Sunnyview Volunteer Services, Proctors Guild Room and the League of Women Voters. She introduced her family to theater and loved attending shows at Proctors with them. Jane made and anatomical gift to Albany Medical Center.
        There will be a celebration of life planned for April. Donations in Jane's name can be made to the Schenectady County Public Library, Proctors Theater, The Block Island Rescue Squad or a charity of one's choice. Published by The Daily Gazette Co. from Dec. 13 to Dec. 14, 2023.
