Charles Ralph Nelson passed away on December 9th, 2023. He
was predeceased by his brother James Nelson and his parents
Charles I. Nelson and Elsie Ralph Nelson. Charles was born
July 31, 1934 in Newburgh, New York. Charles served in the
Army from 1956 to 1959. He had a long and successful career
with Citibank managing large groups of employees and key
initiatives in the Asia, Latin America and USA regions. He
retired in 1996. Charles was a long-time resident of
Manhattan where he enjoyed dining out with friends,
attendance at university courses and lectures and time spent
at his beloved church, St. Thomas. He will always be fondly
remembered as a kind and generous man who willingly
discussed history, religion and debated politics with
astounding factual knowledge. He is survived by his nephew
Jonathan (Diane) Nelson, great nephews Jonathan Nelson II,
Timothy Nelson and their families, cousins Karen
deFur-Maxwell, Alan Griffith and their families. Memorial
gifts in his name may be made to Saint Thomas Church, 1 West
53rd St., New York, NY 10019.
