Barbara Valentine Freeborn - Class of 1963

    Barbara Valentine Freeborn - Class of 1963 went to be with the Lord on January 25, 2024 after a brief but fierce battle with cancer. She was born on August 9, 1945, in Newburgh, NY to Tom and Grace Valentine, and her sister Rosemary joined later. A lifelong resident of the area, she attended Newburgh schools, married in 1973, and worked as a highly sought after hairdresser back in the day. After the birth of her daughter Jenna, she worked at McDonald's for many, many years and enjoyed every minute. She attended Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh for many years and later attended and became a member of Goodwill Presbyterian Church in Montgomery.
          She is survived by her daughter Jenna and son-in-law Jan; her grandchildren: granddaughter Kayleigh and her husband Steven, granddaughter Taryn and her boyfriend Don, grandson Shay and his girlfriend Dakota, grandson Logan, granddaughter Rhiannon and her husband Ed and their children Julia, Emily, Timmy and Oliver, grandson Jairus; as well as her niece Lisa Moulthrop, countless cousins, other family, friends, neighbors, and in-laws. Barbara was predeceased by her mother, father and sister.
          Visitation will held at Brooks Funeral Home on Thursday, February 1st from 4pm -7pm. A funeral service will he held at Goodwill Presbyterian Church in Montgomery, NY on Friday, February 2 at 11 am, with burial following in Goodwill Cemetery, Montgomery, NY.
          In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence or Chapel Field Christian Schools.
          Many thanks to Jenna's Chapel Field family for their care, concern and prayers; many thanks to the Kaplan Family Residence nurses, social workers, chaplains, doctors and aids for their care and respect they showed; and many thanks to the at-home Hospices nurses that took care of her. - August 9, 1945 ~ January 25, 2024
