Sheila Slutsky Hecht - Class of 1961

Sheila Ann Hecht of Boynton Beach, Florida passed away
January 24, 2024 at the age of 80. She was born to Milton
and Sarah Slutsky in Newburgh, NY. She was preceded in death
by her beloved husband Philip Hecht. Survived by her
daughter Sandi Hecht-Garcia, Son in law Michael Garcia,
granddaughters Elyssa and Maia Garcia and sister Sima Lewis.
Sheila Hecht graduated
from Newburgh Free Academy. She attended SUNY Cortland and
SUNY New Paltz to earn her Bachelors and Masters degree in
education. She worked as an elementary reading teacher.
Sheila had many hobbies
and interests. She loved gardening and flowers and was an
avid reader. She was involved in clubs and activities in her
community after moving to Florida. She organized charitable
events such as toy and food drives. She enjoyed the arts and
theater and loved to travel with her husband and family.
Sheila was a caring and
thoughtful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Her family was lucky to have so many wonderful memories and
for that they are forever grateful.
Funeral services were
held on January 29, 2024 at Eternal Light Memorial Park in
Boynton Beach, FL. Donations in Sheila's memory can be made
to Alzheimer's Association or Juvenile Diabetes Research
