Richard Arthur Coleman - Class of 1960

    Richard "Dad, Pops, Rich, Richy" Arthur Coleman passed away on Sunday October 29, 2023 in Oxnard, Ca. at the age of 80. He had been battling serious medical conditions and was in Hospice at the time of his death. He was cared for by daughter Rhonda, and her family over the last years of his life. He was born in Boston, Ma. to a very Irish family. In the early years of his life, he was involved with the church, attending Catholic schools and serving as an altar boy in the Boston Cathedral. The family moved from Boston in 1953 to Orange Lake outside of Newburgh, NY where he attended Newburgh Free Academy High School. After high school, he joined the US Navy where he attended Guided Missile Technician School. He served with the Navy at Point Mugu California Naval Air Station near Port Hueneme, Ca. That is when he met Shirley Oldham at 101 Ranch House Restaurant, had his first child, daughter Rhonda and then married. After military service, he remained in Oxnard, Ca and over time built his family. He had been a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Irish Group and Knights of Columbus. He was a loveable Irishman who loved to tell stories. Rich is proceeded in death by his parents Martin and Florence Coleman of Boston, Ma. He is survived by his children: Rhonda Speir and husband Keith, their daughter Brandy Speir, and her children: Connor, Devin and Brooklynn, all live in Fillmore, Ca. Kelli Ullom, lives in Santa Paula, Ca her children: Mathew Buck and his wife Sara, live in Ventura, Ca, Leilani Tupua- Shinar, her husband Joseph and their children: Rowan, Jameson and Finnin live in Fort Worth, TX. Theresa "Terri" Coleman, lives in Santa Paula, Ca.
Patrick Coleman, lives in Ventura, Ca. He also has a younger brother Martin "Marty" Coleman and wife Leta of Littleton, Co. Rich loved his family. He lived a long, colorful and full life. He will be greatly missed. Sla'inte Dad, Pops, Rich!
