Robin Cobbs - Class of 1980

    Robin Cobbs passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024 Robin, a devoted sister, aunt, and friend was born on September 7, 1962, in Newburgh, NY, to the late Grant and Alberta Cobbs. Robin attended Newburgh schools and was an accelerated grade school student until the time of her high school graduation. She also attended Binghamton University, and Sullivan Community College where she earned her associate degree. An incredibly gifted and talented artist, Robin was passionate, spending countless hours creating and perfecting her craft. Winning an award for her portraits of Anwar Sadat and Luke & Laura of “General Hospital.” Among her many talents Robin is also listed in “Newburgh Legends,” as one of Newburgh’s very own first female Hip Hop DJ’s. She enjoyed spinning records at local colleges and universities, including West Point. Hardly a thing Robin could not accomplish and do well once she made up her mind. She leaves to mourn in her passing her sisters Marilyn McDuffie, and Deborah Spearman (Oliver) of Newburgh, NY and her brother Ronnie Simpson of Newburgh, NY; nieces, Roneisha Thomas (Marvin), and Aliceia Alila, of Newburgh, NY and nephew Jaron McDuffie, of Newburgh, NY; God sons Taurvon Johnson, and Davion Fryar; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins; and a few close friends. She was predeceased by her parents Alberta Lipscomb-Cobbs, and Grant Cobbs Sr., and her brother Grant Cobbs Jr.
        Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home on Friday, February 2 from 11 AM - 1 PM, with a prayer service at 12 PM. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor.
