Violet C. Fasciano Gallagher, 81, of Lewisburg, Pa. died on Friday, March 22, 2024 at her home from complications of Alzheimer’s. She was born Dec. 29, 1942 in Newburgh, N.Y., a daughter of the late Dominick and Vi (Fayo) Fasciano. On Oct. 10, 1965, she married Francis “Red” Gallagher who preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 1995. Together they celebrated 30 years of marriage. Vi was a 1964 graduate of Mount Saint Mary’s College. Vi taught middle school mathematics and computer science in Lewisburg, retiring in 1995. After Vi retired, she got interested in financial planning and investing. She was a co-founder of an Investment Club, and inspired others to be more active managing their finances. Vi led an active life. She loved cross country skiing, nature photography, biking, white water rafting, tennis, walking, and traveling all over the world.
Surviving are Lauren Fasciano-Sager (Norm Sager), of Ft. Collins, Colo., Lynn Fasciano and her son, Nico Ampula, both of Salt Lake City, Utah, Fred McEwen, Tom McEwen (Stephanie) and Dan McEwen, all of Newburgh, N.Y. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Nikolas Fasciano, and sister, Barbara McEwen. In later years, Vi lived with Alzheimer’s. We want to express sincere thanks and appreciation to the caregivers and friends that took exceptional care of Vi for many years. They made it possible for Vi to live at home, surrounded by people who love her. She was comfortable and happy. Vi - we will miss your laugh, your sense of humor, your big smile, and the joy that a glass of red wine or a bowl of ice cream could bring.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 28 at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg. Burial will follow in Eagles Mere Cemetery.
