Margaret Brein Rave - Class of 1943 - Margaret was
born February 12th, 1925 to Joseph and Anne (Staudt) Brein
at the New York Nursery and Childs Hospital in Manhattan.
The family later settled in Orange County where she married
Gerard Rave, who predeceased her. She died peacefully on
April 7th, 2024 at the Fishkill Center for Rehab and Nursing
where she spent the last 14 years of her life.
Margaret graduated from Newburgh Free Academy and, although
she did not pursue further formal education, was known at
the facility to be a very learned, self-educated woman. She
was appreciated for her humor, wit, and the twinkle in her
eye. An avid reader, she devoured everything from Stephen
King thrillers to historical non-fiction, as well as her
beloved National Geographics and Smithsonian magazines.
Margaret's true passion was animals. She loved creatures of
all kinds and was especially fond of her rescue cat,
Bo-Diddy. She enjoyed listening to classical and operatic
music, as well as singing along with popular music and
German folk songs.
A memorial will be held at the Fishkill Center for Rehab and
Nursing at a later date. Much gratitude is owed to the
facility staff—especially her special friend, Mariam-- for
the many kindnesses and loving care provided over the years.
Much appreciation to Pastor Bill as well. Margaret is
survived by her longtime friend, Anne Milliken. - February
