Cyril Tansey - Class of 1966

      Cyril R. Tansey Jr of Walden N.Y. passed away peacefully at Westchester County Medical Center, Valhalla N.Y. on April 20, 2024 at the age of 76. He was the widower of Susan A. Tansey, who predeceased him on February 10, 2024.
Known to his family and friends as Cy; he was born in Newark New Jersey, the son of Cyril R Tansey Sr and Frances Hanley Tansey. After moving to Newburgh New York as a child, he attended Newburgh schools and graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1966.
He met Susan, the love of his life, and they enjoyed more than 50 years of marriage together. Cy was an electrician by trade and was a proud member of I.B.E.W Local 363. He was a generous supporter of many charities; past president of the Town of Montgomery Lions Club and long-time member of the Newburgh Elks Lodge 247.
He and Sue enjoyed traveling to the western states and the Caribbean. Cy also enjoyed classic cars, riding his Harley with Sue and making wine with his good friends of over 50 years, Al and Patricia Favata. Cy was an avid reader, great storyteller, family historian, and he loved his family dearly. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family.
Cy is predeceased by his parents, his second mother Ann Tansey, wife Susan, sister Rosemarie Taravella and her husband James; brothers-in-law James Cobey, Joseph Mulligan, and Richard Dwyer; sisters-in-law Sandy Tansey and Laura Paradine.
He is survived by his Aunt and Uncle Roxane and Robert Zach; brother Albert Tansey; sisters Patricia Cobey, Barbara Crana and husband Richard, Maureen Dwyer, Robert and Georgette Earl, George and Joann Earl; father-in-law David Paradine and his wife Susan; sisters-in law Carla Paradine, Katrina Paradine and her husband Richard; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. - October 15, 1947 ~ April 20, 2024
