Lorraine M. (Dueben) McDonald, 89 years old, previously residing in New Windsor, NY passed away Wednesday, May 22nd at the Fishkill Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Beacon, NY.

Lorraine was born on June 9th, 1934 in Newburgh, NY and spent her entire life there and in the neighboring Town of New Windsor. She attended Newburgh Free Academy and shortly thereafter met her husband, Jan McDonald. They were married on October 13th, 1954 in Newburgh. Soon after they started what became a very large family. Jan adored Lorraine and they were together for 66 years until his passing in 2020.

Lorraine, simply, was an angel on earth; with a divine heart, she humbly modeled the very best human qualities. Her generosity and loving warmth towards family, friends, and all who crossed her path knew no bounds. She often opened her home to relatives and friends in need, while simultaneously raising four boys and maintaining a very busy household. She was strong, yet a soft place to land. She set a fine example for her sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was always honest, fair, a beacon of truth, and gave the best advice. But most importantly, her love was unconditional.

Lorraine showed her love in big ways and small ways. She was the center of her extended family. She made every holiday special. She happily attended graduations, parades, baseball and softball games, concerts, birthdays, baptisms, weddings. There was room for everyone at her table and always a jar full of cookies. All who knew her loved her.

Lorraine is survived by her four sons Jan McDonald Jr. and his wife Kathleen, Richard McDonald and his wife Susan, Ronald McDonald and his wife Linda, James McDonald and his wife Caroline; Daughter-in-law Ann McDonald; her brother Richard Dueben, 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; and the rest of her loving family and friends.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband Jan McDonald, her infant daughter Linda McDonald, her parents George and Matilda Dueben and her brother George Dueben.

Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 29 from 4 - 6 PM. - June 9, 1934 ~ May 22, 2024
