Joan Buinicky Fasciana - Class of 1974 - On June
13th, 2024, Joan Frances Faciana (Nee Buinicky) born in
Cornwall, NY and raised in the city of Newburgh (NFA Class
of 1974) passed away at home after a long battle with kidney
disease and diabetes. She is survived by her husband of 46
years, Michael John Faciana, and her daughter Jesse Faciana.
She is also survived by four granddaughters Maisie, Nelli,
Evie and Betsey Faciana-Smith as well as her many siblings,
friends, and family. Joan lived in four states during her
lifetime. Born, raised, and married in New York she then
lived in Pennsylvania and Ohio, until moving to Minnesota to
be closer to her daughter and grandchildren five years ago.
Joan was a preschool teacher, retail manager, and daycare
worker as well as a much-loved part of every community she
lived and worked in. She was quick to make friends and was
generous to all those who were in need. Joan was a
passionate lover of children and animals, and the family
would appreciate any donations in her name to go to UNICEF
or any animal shelter of your choice. She also loved
reading, especially to children, so donating children's
books to a local organization would also be appreciated.
Private cremation services were held on June 17th, 2024, in
Saint Paul, Minnesota.
