Joseph A. Callahan Class of 1931

Callahan of New Windsor, a retired chemist for Dupont, Newburgh, passed away on Friday October 29, 2010 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus. He was 97. Joseph was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine Doyle Callahan, he was born May 15, 1913 in Newburgh and was a member of the Town of New Windsor Volunteer Ambulance Corp. Joe graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1931. Joe was predeceased by his wife, Johanna Plasch Callahan and he is survived by two daughters, Rita B. Callahan of North Quincy, MA and Maureen Cochran and her husband, Donald of Stoneham, MA; one brother, Francis Callahan of Port Orange, FL; one sister Rose Morris and her husband, Charles of Newburgh; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 3, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church New Windsor. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Town of New Windsor Ambulance Corp. at 555 Union Ave. New Windsor NY 12553.
