Gaynell "Gay" Stabler Diel, of Newburgh, a lifelong resident and homemaker, died Monday, November 20, 2006 at Elant Nursing Home. She was 92. The daughter of Frederick Stabler and Bertha Stabler, she was born December 9, 1913 in Newburgh. She was the widow of Albert Diel. She was a Charter lifetime member and past President of the Winona Lake Lady's Auxiliary from 1957-1960, she attended Moulton Memorial Baptist Church, Newburgh, member of the Golden Age Club, was a volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital for many years, and also at N.Y. State Social Security Office. She was predeceased by her mom and dad; brother, Frederick Stabler Jr. and sister, Bertha Marjorie Scott. Survivors include her daughter, Bette Falvella and her husband, John of Rock Tavern, Barbara and husband, George Vande Water of Encinitas, Calif.; six grandchildren, Linda Pulaski and her husband, John of Wallkill, Joseph Falvella and his wife, Tamara of Bradenton, Fla., John Falvella and his wife, Marge of Wallkill, Jason Vande Water and his wife, Chris of Encinitas, Calif., Philip Vande Water of Encinitas, Calif. and Kathy Condon and her husband, Dennis of Encino, Calif.; 11 great grandchildren; niece, Debbie DeAgostine of Wallkill; nephew, Foster J. Scott Jr. of Miami, Fla; and her best friend, Libby (Dollie) Leibowitz of Newburgh. A family statement reads: "Beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. You are in a better place and we long for the day when we will be united again as a family. The family is very grateful for her many devoted friends." Memorial contributions may be made to the Winona Lake Engine Co. #2 Ladies Auxiliary, 104 S. Plank Rd., Newburgh, NY 12550. Friends may call at White and Venuto Funeral Home, 188 N. Plank Rd. (Route 32), Newburgh on Monday, November 27, 2006 from 6-8 p.m. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at 10 a.m. in the Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jack Hyatt officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in New Windsor at the Convenience of the family. Arrangements by White and Venuto Funeral Home.
