     Marcus La Jaun Woody Sr., of Newburgh, NY, entered in eternal rest on Sunday, April 24, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was 39. The son of Mary Etta Ware Woody and the late Alvin Woody Sr., he was born October 21, 1971 in Newburgh, NY. He was a 1991 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, owner and operator of Cuts by Marcus in the town of Newburgh, and a member of House of Refuge DTRM church in Newburgh. Marcus leaves to cherish his memory, his high school sweetheart, which he later married and has been a devoted wife for 12 years, Vanessa M. Jackson Woody. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Marcus L. Woody, Jr; daughter, Deona N. Woody; mother, Mary Etta Ware Woody; brothers: Alvin Woody Jr., Quincy Woody and his wife, Linda; Calvin Woody and his wife, Dawn; sisters: Zina Woody and Marcietta Hoilett and her husband, Donovan, all of Newburgh; a brother, Ozere Ware of Marlboro, NY. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Everette Jackson; sisters-in-law, Latisha Jackson and her husband, Everette of Columbus, OH; Bridget Jackson and Veronica Jackson, both of Newburgh; two god children, Remegius Wethington of Ohio and Ayonna McKinnon of Newburgh; one god sister, Ivy Lane of Newburgh; a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and two very special friends: Lucus Griffin and Edison Mauldin. He was predeceased by his daughter, Candice Woody; father, Alvin Woody Sr., grandparents, mother-in-law, Jessie Jackson, several aunts and uncles. Visitation will be held 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, April 30 at House of Refuge DTRM Church, 127-131 Broadway, Newburgh, NY. Services will begin at 11 a.m. at the Church. Bishop Jeffrey C. Woody will officiate. Internment will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Middlehope, NY. Arrangements are by Rhodes Funeral Home, 259 Walsh Avenue, New Windsor, NY 12553.
