Submitted by Pauline Rute Hall 1952 <grammypgh@aol.com> on 01/Jul/2011 Message: Thomas Louis Cotten, Sr., went to receive his heavenly reward on Sunday, June 26, 2011. Tommy, as he was often referred to by his loving family and friends, was born May 29, 1983 (22 minutes after his twin brother, Joseph), a son of Joseph Cotten III and Betty Lewis.Tommy received his education through the Newburgh Enlarge School District and started working at the age of thirteen to help support his family. Tommy's life centered around family and helping others. He believed in continuing education and often pushed others around him to do the same. One of his proudest moments was the birth of his son, Thomas Louis Cotten Jr. on April 23, 2008. Tommy loved to be in the background. However on February 14, 1996 he hit front page of the Black Press receiving the American Youth's Award. (He hated the photo.) His next proud moment was when he incorporated Precise Vision Auto, his auto mechanic shop. He beamed with great pride and joy for working at Ryder Trucking Company in Montgomery, where he was a machinist with Local 447. He would say "I can finally use my skills and my diesel license." The day he brought his motorcycle, we all could see such happiness on Saturday, June 25, 2011, he received his motorcycle club jacket and was accepted into Street Assault Motorcycle Club, he now felt complete. Tommy found a brotherhood, where he knew he would belong forever.
