Since graduating in '56 I spent 4 years in the U.S. Navy, graduated Hudson Valley CC in '63, University College-Syracuse in '70 and Syracuse University in '71.  I've been associated with Carrier Air Conditioning Co for 41 years and made my home in 7 states. I recently moved to Tucson, AZ after living in So. Calif. for 25 years. A bit of culture shock. I'm looking forward to seeing and renewing acquaintances with former classmates at the 50th.

I am currently teaching grade 6 at Fostertown ETC Magnet School  in Newburgh. I graduated from NFA in 1970.  I have taught most of my teaching career in Newburgh. I taught for 2 years in Ossining, NY. If it is God's will I look forward to retiring in June 2008. I am divorced, have 1 daughter who also graduated from NFA in 1994, and I have two wonderful grandchildren, one girl 3 and one boy 7, who happens to go to my school. :)  I loved the website.  I had a music teacher Ms. Norvell back in the day.  Any relation to you?  I have attended Newburgh Schools from k-12.
Answer: Yes Dotty Norvell is my sister and she recently retired from teaching and is loving it.

I absolutely love this site.  I should be doing homework, but I've been spending the last hour or so looking at the fabulous job you've done.  After 32 years, I'm about to receive my associate's degree.  Another 18 months and I will finally have my bachelor's degree.  I am currently divorced, but have two great kids - my son Christopher (25) and my daughter Amanda (23) and two wonderful grandchildren, the lights of my life, Destiny (6) and Andrew (6 weeks).  I am living in Kansas (the armpit of the US).  I wish I could be back in NY with mountains and four seasons in a row instead of all in one day and real pizza!  I've been here about 20 years now, still hate it.  I spent 7 years in the army and traveled to Germany and all over the US.  Have had quite a few jobs since, but am working for the Social Security Administration in Wichita at the present time.  I miss Newburgh so much.  It feels like I was there only yesterday.  I keep checking the job opportunities at SSA, but there are very few openings.  Someday!!!!  I still keep in touch with my best friend from NFA, JoAnn (Deja) Chapman.  My brother, Jim, Class of '76 is the one who turned me on to your site.  Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I enjoy the spring the most it is my time of year as I love to work with my flowers, I also enjoy Nascar racing, yes for a girl I am somewhat of a motorhead. I love shopping the most. We have a Siamese cat Mee-sha who is my dearest companion, she is with me always. Enjoy listening to the old sounds but enjoy the new, na, the old sounds are the best who are we kidding???

I stumbled upon this website and found it quite interesting!! After graduating from NFA in 1971, I attended and graduated from MSMC in Newburgh.  After college I married in'76 and moved to Missouri, then Utah, and Nevada.  I have lived in Boulder City, NV ( 20 min. from Las Vegas) for 18 years now.  I have two children, Sarah who is 27, and Rob who is 23.  Sarah also lives in Boulder City with her husband and my son lives in San Francisco.  I have one granddaughter and another one is on the way this summer...   I have been on a whirlwind of careers in the past 10 years, which have included teaching Special Education, tour guide at Hoover Dam, and sales to name a few!  Most recently I graduated from Le Cordon Bleu Culinary school in Las Vegas and I have worked at the Bellagio and Wynn Resort in Pastry..............I would love to hear from any of my classmates and also anyone who has any memories of my father Stan Hemingway or if you knew my mother, Jean.  My Dad passed away in 1990 and my mom in 1998.  I used to go back to Newburgh on a regular basis to visit family, but I have very little family back there anymore......I have very fond memories of my years in Newburgh, since I was born and raised there.  Thank you for creating such a great website!!

Agnes Moody Graff  56
In 1956 my Dad, Mom and I moved to Long Island because my Dad had taken a position in Huntington.  I graduated from a private secretarial school and went to work almost right away for the VA Hospital in Northport as a clerk-stenographer for two years and then decided to go to Queen's Hospital Center School of Nursing.  That summer (1959) I met and became engaged to Bill Graff from Purdue University.  He went back for his senior year and I did my first year of training.  We found it was too hard to be apart so after his graduation he came back to L.I. and we married in August of 1960.....We lived for 6 years there in Lafayette, IN while Bill got his Masters and Ph.D in Electrical Engineering.  I worked for two years as the secretary to the Biology Department head and then we decided to have a baby. After our second baby in 1966, and Bill having completed all but the final details for his Ph.D, he accepted a position as Assistant Prof. at Drexel University in Phila.  We were  there for 6 years and then 2 years in Willkes College (after the Agnes flood in 1972) to reset up the labs and teach engineering. In 1972 we added a third daughter to Bill's harem and he was able to deliver her under the supervision of a Dr. in the hospital. FUN!.... In 1975 we accepted a position as Professor at LeTourneau University in Longview, TX in the Engineering Department - where he is still are happily teaching and we are mentoring students and others.....As we look back the LORD has "Blessed our socks off"  We have 11 grandchildren that we get to see at least a couple of times a year (they live in WI, VA, and central TX).....We are just going through one of the hardest times having lost our youngest son-in-love in a private plane accident in February, 2006.

...... Bill:  This is the best site I've seen.  It is evident you have put in many hours to create a very informative high school yearbook reference.  It is great to not only read about old classmates, but to see who is doing what, where they are and who has passed on.  This is so complete.  Kudos for a job well done!!!....Graduated:  Class of 1965; first worked for MetLife then as a secretary in the Credit Dept of Columbus Trust. From there, in July 1970, went to work in the Dept of History at USMA as a clerk typist.  Worked there until March of 1986 when I transferred over to the D/Law to become the secretary to the head of the dept.  In 1988 I became the office supervisor, and I have been ever since.  (Check out the website www.usma.edu .  Can search by academic dept to find my work bio.) ............... I married Pat A Pacenza Jr, CCHS Class of '60 (actually was NFA class of '60 until his mother moved to Cornwall and he had to change schools in OCT of his senior year - bummer). We have one son, Patrick III (39), who is married to a Ramsey, NJ gal named April, and they have 4 beautiful children - two girls and two boys, ages 10 down to 2............I also belong to Storm King Engine Co. #2 Ladies Auxiliary, where my husband is a volunteer fireman............ I attend Grace Methodist Chruch where I see classmates Fran (Olson) Gustafson and Pam (Ward) Tripp and on occasion, Mary Richards............ In June 1997 we traveled to England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.   In 2000 we traveled to Austria to see the Passion Play in Oberammergau, Germany (an every 10-year performance put on by the townspeople - in German). What a moving play.  We also visited Innsbruck and Salzburg and Lichenstein on this trip - simply beautiful and breath-taking countries. The Alps are stunning.  In November of 2004 we went to Ireland to do a tour - best country by far.  People love Americans and are so friendly.  I could easily relocate there and feel at home.  Another beautiful place on earth - truly an Emerald Isle.  In June of 2005 we took a cruise to Hawaii - nice but not what I expected, spent too much time on the sea.  Also bought a timeshare in Cancun at the Royal Resorts' Royal Sands, where we have also vacationed - going again in May of this year.  Went to Las Vegas in July 2002, and thoroughly enjoyed it.  Went with my husband's brother Tom and his wife Carolyn (Weinheim - Class of '64).  Took a drive through the painted desert on the way to Hoover Dam.  Again, simply breath-taking................ I am currently living in Cornwall, NY and have my home for sale with the hopes of moving into my grandparents' home in Cornwall-on-Hudson - want to keep it in the family (since 1930).
I have always wondered whatever happened to Jerry Zaransky (his dad was murdered in Newburgh).  The last I had heard he had married, possibly divorced, and moved to California.  Does anyone know where he is now?.......................Finally, hello to all of those who remember me.  I was quiet and shy in high school with just a few close friends, one of which was Donna Sheffield. The last I knew Donna relocated to California.  Her brother Martin did live in New Windsor and her brother David did live in Florida.

I graduated from NFA a half-century ago, class of 1956. After a bunch of years at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, I received a Ph.D. in physics in 1969, while working at the GE Research Laboratory in Schenectady. My first wife, Susan Langer (NFA-class of 1958) and I had three children during that period, Barbara, Robin, and Michael.................In 1975, I co-founded the Sono-Tek Corporation in Poughkeepsie, and I'm still working. Retirement is not on my schedule, since it is wonderful to be doing something that is so meaningful, not only to me, but to all of our hundreds of employees, both present and past............... Sono-Tek is a successful hi-tech public company that manufactures and develops ultrasonic liquid spray equipment. The technology is based on inventions I made during the mid-seventies..........My second wife, Donna, has been a particular source of pride to me. She recently received her Ph.D. from SUNY Albany and is a human dynamo, something that I can only watch in awe. She works at Marist College.........I love to cook. I do everything from Chinese and Japanese to French and Italian. Donna and I also love to travel. We make sure that we vacation as often as possible.

Bill Deveau (Capes)  1956
1st of all, the last name is (and was) Capes, but my parents divorced and my Mother insisted I use her maiden name of Deveau! When I graduated and struck out on my own, I took back my proper last name.............   Graduated NFA, class of 56 in June, entered USAF in August, didn t really see much of a future in Newburgh. 4 years in service, 2 years in Colorado,1 in France, 1 in England, excellent tour. Picked up BSEE while in service, moved to Connecticut when I left the service, and been here ever since............... Married a CT girl (Judy) in 62, still married, 2 kids, boy 39 & girl 38. One Grandson the normal way, one Granddaughter by marriage, and 2 potential Grandsons if my son ever marries the girl................ Career here in Connecticut was always Electrical Engineering, started out designing computers, ended up programming the damned things. Retired with 20 years of service with Pitney Bowes, plus a LOT of other companies nobody ever heard of, as well as a few famous ones (IBM, Bunker Ramo, AMF, etc.)
Never been so busy in my life since I retired. Rebuilt an RV, used it 3 years, now selling it and converting an airport style limo bus (the kind that moves you from the airline to the car rental place, 30 feet long) to a camper. If that s not enough, I build/fly RC model aircraft, still do consulting on computers, AND maintain a complete woodworking and mini machine shop. Plus, there is always the honey do list.         My email address is retireandenjoy@sbcglobal.net

A l962 graduate. Married and had two beautiful boys. Sadly a divorce came next. Remarried and had a beautiful daughter. Ed and I have been married 34 years this October. We split our time between Henderson, New York and Prosperity, South Carolina. I had worked as a school secretary for 35 years and upon retirement (Ed was already retired from teaching) we decided that South Carolina for the winters was what we wanted. Kids are all grown now. We have 8 great grandkids. Had some wonderful times at NFA and dances at the Y. Still have my yearbook and reread it on occasion. Will keep up the book with those deceased using this site for my information. Thank you for producing it.

Additional   The 1974 yearbook still eludes us. Gregg Dabaco, Jimmy Gagliano and I didn't graduate with our class because we joined the Navy prior to graduation so I don't have the 1974 NFA yearbook. Maybe I'll try Ebay!    Great job Bill!

Per your request: After 3 years 9 months and 14 days in the Marines, I worked at IBM, Poughkeepsie for 37 years and 3 months. When they made the offer I couldn't refuse, I retired at 59 years as of April 1990.   We had 5 kids, 4 boys and 1 girl, who have given us in return 10 grandchildren from 2 years old to 21 years. That's the thanks we got. Only kidding since we wouldn't have had the grandkids if we had strangled our teenagers. The grandkids live in the Town of Newburgh, city of Newburgh, Cornwall and New Windsor. In fact, 3 live across the street from us. So we're active in Grandchildren, especially during summer vacation while their parents work. Keeps us young (I think).

I have been driving SB and teaching School Bus Drivers for the last 14 years.  It is almost time to retire and I just may soon.  Prior to that I worked at Apple Computer for a few years.  That was great fun.  I am married. My husband and I have 7 children and 13 grandchildren. Two grand daughters in the Wedded Bliss era.  One just got married and the other scheduled to in 2 mos. We are all on the western coast. Colorado, Washington and California.  My husband Bill and I live in the bay area just south of San Francisco.

Graduated in 62 and went to the USN for 7 years. When I returned to Newburgh I meet and married Pat Kartis. We will celebrate 35 years in January. One son and one granson(15 months old) and residing in Poway California .California has been home for 30 years and hate it when it gets Cold.               My plans are to retire and continue the restoration on my Red 56 Thunderbird that I was finally able to get in June. Really just minor things that need to be done. I am a member of a railroad volunteers group called the Poway-Midland Railroad Volunteers which is a small community railroad that runs a 1907 Baldwin Steam engine,1894 LA trolley and currently restoring a 1906 Cable Car from SF.
I am just now getting involved in the Kiwanis Club, they have activities like a car show where the proceeds go to Children's hospital here in San Diego!

Hi     I'm so glad this site exists.  I graduated 1978 and went to college a couple years in New York.  ...Moved to Orlando, Florida in 1981 and have lived here ever since.  I'm married, with 4 kids and a couple of years ago resumed college and received a B.A. in Psychology.  I'm now pursuing a M.A. in counseling; on my way to a Ph.D.  I'd like to know how to get a duplicate copy of the 1978 year book.  Can anyone help?  Are there any members of the 1978 class in Orlando?

You've done a great job in updating the NFA Yearbook Site. For those of us who live far away, it's like a trip back to the Hudson Valley.  Is there a chance that yearbooks from the 1940's may eventually be available on our site? Having the 1949 one is good but earlier years would be appreciated.
Keep up the wonderful job!!

I married Judi Judson, from the class of 1967 and we have three children.

Hi Bill...What  great website you have and what neat stuff you have on it!  After graduating in 1967 I married Joe Corbett, my junior high/high school sweetheart, but unfortunately that only lasted for three years.  I later married a West Pointer who is currently in Baghdad, Iraq working for the State Department.  Our home of record is Perrysburg, Ohio (between Toledo and Bowling Green).  We have two gorgeous daughters and an amazing two month old grandson!  I'm currently working for a law firm in Toledo and trying to figure out a way to become independently wealthy so we can spend our time just traveling the world.  Would love to hear from anybody from the good old days at NFA!

Bill must say I am super impressed with this site !!  I'm a 66 grad and remember being picked up in the hall a few times by you and your buds.  It is really cool to all see the year book flicks from the past ., brings back a lot.  I've  lived in MO for almost 30 years after retiring from a 24 yr stay in the Army.  I 'm now in  contracting .  I know you remember Kenny Johnson I was on the wrestling team with him while in NFA.  those were good times, we really raised a lot of hell.  I gotta tell ya this is one of the greatest things that come along.  Can't thank you enough for the time and effort you put into this   http://www.Dutchpop.com/

This is a wonderful site. I stumbled on it by accident, lucky me! Married twice, divorced twice, and I don't want to try 3 for 3!  I went to OCCC, MSMC, NP and have been teaching in the Newburgh School Dist. for 33+ years. This is going to be my last year. I have one son 24 and share the parenting of two adorable pugs. Enjoying this site...every time I look , I find something new! Fantastic job Billy!
Added info: Now live in Leland, NC with two adorable pugs...  Leland is on the outskirts of Wilmington and an hour north of Myrtle Beach... a great area. My son who is 26 lives in Manhattan and the distance is not too bad, but still a haul with two four-legged creatures. Looking forward to my 40th reunion October 2008.

Hi Everyone!  I'm still living in Newburgh (Orange Lake area).  I married my high school sweetheart, Carol, in 1973, and we're still together!  We have three sons, Michael (b. 1977), Billy, Jr. (b. 1978), and Christopher (b. 1979)--yes, those years were very busy for us.  All 3 of our sons attended NFA, too.  They had a few of the same teachers I had!  Imagine that!  And, a few of my old NFA classmates became our sons' teachers at NFA, isn't that right Kenny?  I'm still playing bass guitar with my friends (as a hobby).  Also, we have a recording studio at our house and we run a DJ business with our son, Michael, known as Lynn Sound Systems. This is a wonderful web site thanks to our dear friend, Billy Norvell.  What a guy!  I can't imagine how many hours it took to put this together.  It's awesome!  Thank you, Billy. Keep up the good work.  (Love those adorable Cats! By the way, we have three!)

Bill Pitcher  1974
After graduating from NFA, I spent four years in the Air Force.  They taught me something about being on my own.  How did my mother ever take care of 6 kids?  All that wash, all that cooking.  She's a saint.  My dad is pretty special too.
I learned a bit about programming in the military.  This helped me find a job in California in 1979.  Being out here with all the fruits and nuts has been an amazing experience and I fit right in even though I am a minority.  That's right, white male conservative Christians are quite the minority in this neck of the woods.
I've been married since 1988.  As of July 17, 2005, I have an 11 year old son and an 8 year old daughter.  I have a 31 year old step-son and 3 spunky grandchildren.  I'm not proud to say that I was married once before.  It was four years of pure hell and it helps me to appreciate what I now have.
I love my life and can only think of a few things I'd like to change:

1. I wish I had been man enough to keep my hair short when I was younger.  It would have meant a lot to my dad and grandfather.
2. Although I became a Christian when I was 13, I didn't really commit my life to Jesus until my last year in the Air Force.  If I had done this sooner, I'd owe apologies to less people, including my family and myself.
3. I wish I had taken school more seriously.  The grades came fairly easy so I didn't bother applying myself.  Instead of learning to explore and research things, I was satisfied with regurgitating exactly what the teacher wanted to hear.  Basically, I robbed myself.
4. Like most human beings, there's more but I'd rather not incriminate myself and I get enough humiliation when I'm out on the golf course.  No point in piling on more humiliation in such a public forum.  Let me just say though that if you feel I ever did you wrong, I apologize from the bottom of my heart.  I hope that God has somehow used it to make you into a special and wonderful person.
"Most people learn more in the midst of trials than at a party."
Thank you to Bill Norvell, Class of 1965 for putting together this web site.  I hope someone can provide him with the 1973, 1974 and 1975 yearbooks.  That's where most of the people I knew would be pictured.  I can't wait to take that trip down memory lane.  I don't even know when I lost my yearbook but I don't remember ever seeing it again after the summer of '74.
May God Bless you and keep you until the day you get to meet him face to face.

I was glad I had to go to NFA and conduct some business or I would never had known about the fantastic adventure that waits for each person who knows that this exists. I recently attended a class reunion in Oct 2004 and met some wonderful classmates "55 years" and it is amazing how spry each of us this are. I hope somebody gets in touch with me soon for old time sake.

Bill, thanks for your postings of the Class of 62! My son's yearbook got lost in time, so it's good to see his picture. Larry died in Nov.1999, and worked for NYS Thruway Authority at Harriman Toll. Can't help wondering if you worked at Lloyd's back in the 70s in security. Your site is great--wish more local schools would post their yearbooks. Nina

After graduating in 65 I went on to OCCC where I met my wife Lynne, marrying in 1971.  We both went on to SUNY New Paltz and after graduating I went to work for NYU at their Institute of Environmental Medicine in Tuxedo NY.  I got my Masters there and was involved with NYU's cancer research program for 9 years.  At the ripe old age of 31 I decided to join the USAF and got a direct commission into the Biomedical Sciences Corps, 21+ years later I retired as a Colonel. I still maintain my ties with the Department of Defense by now working as a contractor in the Army's Combat Casualty Care Research Program at Ft. Detrick in Frederick MD.  Lynne and I have three wonderful children, 2 sons in college and a daughter in high school.  I will always remember cruising up and down Broadway and wishing to have a hot car like "The Bear."  The photo shows me with my Patriotic 2002 vette and "New Yawka" tags.  A big howdy to y'all (I spent 5 years in San Antonio) -- Class of '65.  Those were GREAT times.  Bill kudos   to you on this fantastic website, it brings back so many fond memories.  BoB

Bill, from what I have looked at your site is great. I left Newburgh in Jan. 59 and went into the Air Force, was discharged in Nov.62. I married in Michigan and had 6 children and I have 4 grandchildren. I worked for Chrysler Corp. and retired in Dec. 94. I still live in Mi., and probably will spend my last days as well. I live in a small town about 20 miles north of Port Huron Michigan called Lexington. The city of Newburgh has changed dramatically in almost 50 years and I cant say for the better. I will always remember Newburgh the way it was when I left. When I was back for our 40th reunion a bunch of us took a tour back thru the school with a former teacher by the name of Dave Levison. There are about 4 from the class of 57 living in Michigan, we are scattered about the state but I know where they are. Keep up the good work. By the way are you related to Mickey Norvell that was in the class of 57?
Original signing 2005-03-28 ! This is a great idea. I did not know this was even here, great visiting with you, Bill. Later
