Message: Vincent James DeCerbo, 74 of Vero Beach, FL, formerly of Newburgh, died May 20, 2015 in Vero Beach, FL. Son of the late Anthony "Macker" DeCerbo and Frances "Poochie" (Sperry) DeCerbo, he was born January 13, 1941 in Newburgh. Vincent was a 1959 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and attended Orange County Community College. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1961-1963. He retired from IBM where he worked from 1964 to 1989, and also retired from The United States Postal Service, working there from 1995 to 2013. He was a member of St Patrick's Church in Newburgh, a member of the City of Newburgh Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame, and the Italian-American Club of Vero Beach, Florida. He also served a Coach for the Town of Newburgh Little League and Sacred heart CYO basketball. He will be fondly remembered as an avid Brooklyn Dodger, New York Yankee and New York Giant fan. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Catherine (Christein) DeCerbo; 5 children, Tia Decerbo of Vero Beach, FL John Kulisek and his wife Pam of Tenafly NJ, Stacy Buchholz and her husband Mark of Newburgh, NY, Tiffany Crook and her husband Mark of Newburgh, NY, and Jeff Kulisek and his wife Katie of Rosemount, MN; three siblings, Dolores Shinnick, Anthony "Bucky" DeCerbo and Lynn DeCerbo; two nephews, Eric Christein of Gardiner, NY and Brian Christein and his wife Suzanne of Montgomery, NY; his goddaughter, Susan (Ferguson) Saez of Dutchess County, NY; 8 grandchildren; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces; and two furkids, Jazmine and Mulan. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Albert G. Christein. Memorial visitation for family and friends will be held from 4-8 pm on Wednesday, June 24 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. In keeping with the families wishes, please no flowers.
