Pete was well known in the Newburgh area for his prowess as an all around athlete, He stood out during his NFA years in Basketball, Baseball, Track and Bowling. After NFA his bowling skills took him to the professional level, but was held back due to the lack of sponsorship to get to the big games. He played softball among the many leagues in the Newburgh area. He also played racquetball at the YMCA and entered a Coca Cola sponsored state doubles tournament with his son Brett, and they came in 2nd place. Golf was a game he turned to in his later years and played well while making many friends and learned to enjoy the game.
He spent his entire working career as an Ironworker working out of Local 417. Even after he had a hard day's work he found the time & strength to compete in sports and enjoy the game. He gave his time freely to help others lending a hand whenever needed. He was the Past Exalted Ruler of Elks Lodge 247 and was always involved with the benevolence of the Elks creed. Pete was a caring and loving individual who will be sadly missed by his family & friends. The family mourns the loss of a good husband, father, grandfather, brother & Uncle . His memory will live on and will be taken with us when we see him again.
Funeral arrangements were made by Parsell Funeral Home. https://www.parsellfuneralhomes.com/obituaries/Peter-Gamma-2/#!/TributeWall Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor, NY at a later date at the convenience of the family.
