Aaron J. Mennerich, entered peacefully into rest at his home on Saturday, August 31, 2024, after a valiant fight with cancer. He was 52 years young. Son of Kathy (Lewis) Mennerich and the late William "Bill" Mennerich, Aaron was born on January 12, 1972 in Newburgh, NY. Aaron was a 1990 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, and later attended the community college in Santa Barbara, CA. It was there that Aaron learned his pond trade and began his koi pond business back home in New York. Thus, the name, California Water Gardens, was born. While growing his business, he developed wonderful bonds with many of his long-term clients. He was truly loved and appreciated by many. Aside from running his business, Aaron spent the time that he could up in the Adirondacks, camping, boating, e-foiling, and segwaying around. It was only a few weeks ago that he was upstate spending time with family and messing around on his e-foil. Aaron was also known to frequent the Bahamas, often going scuba diving while there. He made one last trip this past spring with his big brother, Dana. Aaron was also an avid hunter, and he had a love for ice boating, ice fishing, riding four-wheelers, and driving his Viper around. Aaron was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his father, Bill (2021), his brother, John (2021), and his most beloved long-time pet companion, Coco (2019). In addition to his mother, Aaron is survived by his brothers Dana W. (Penny) Mennerich of Newburgh, and Shanon A. (Erica) Mennerich of Wallkill; his uncles, Kenneth A. (Beverly) Mennerich, Donald R. Mennerich, and Robert R. Mennerich, all of the Town of Newburgh; his two nieces Caitlin N. (Jeremy) Girsch of Rocky Mount, VA, and Cassidy N. (Aldan) Race of Clarksville, TN; his nephews Ashton and Max; four great-nephews, Noah, Aldan, Grayson, and Callan; and many cousins.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Orange County and Sullivan County for their care and help in Aaron's last days, as well as the doctors and healthcare providers at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for their dedication to Aaron's care over the years.
