Florence Edith Avery Lambert - Class of 1951

Florence Edith Avery Lambert, 91, went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on
December 22nd, 2024 following a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Florence was born in Cornwall, New York in 1933 to Irving and Gertrude Avery
(nee Clearwater) and was raised in Newburgh, New York along with her brother
Richard. Florence graduated from Newburgh Free Academy High School in 1951 and
received an AA Degree in Dental Hygiene in 1953 from the State University of New
York in Farmingdale, New York. Florence married Jack Lambert in August of 1953
and they had one daughter, Jill Ann. For most of her career, Florence worked as
a Dental Hygienist in the Newburgh School District. She taught dental hygiene,
examined children’s teeth, and made mouthguards for the high school football
players.
In 1980 Florence and Jack moved to Scottsdale, AZ. Florence
volunteered at the hospital in Scottsdale for several years and became active in
a ladies’ golf club near her home. Florence attended Mountain View Presbyterian
Church in Scottsdale for all the years she lived in Arizona.
Florence
is survived by her daughter, Dr. Jill Andrews; her son-in law, Jim Andrews; and
three nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the Gathering Room
at Mountain View Presbyterian Church (8050 E. Mountain View Rd. Scottsdale, AZ
85258) on Saturday, January 4th at 1:00 PM. Jill and Jim will receive friends
and family at the church following the service. Interment will be in New Paltz,
New York. In lieu of flowers, please send gifts to the Alzheimer’s Association
or to Hospice of the Valley
