Possible obituary of a brother of  Geraldine Mandia Loehlein

William Mandia, Sr., formerly of Brookfield, CT, passed away peacefully Friday, February 21st 2003. He will be deeply missed by three daughters: Mary Johnson (Fred) of San Diego, CA; Kathleen Rickert (Peter) of Littleton, CO; Maureen Mandia of Danbury, CT; a son, William Mandia, Jr. (Michelle) of Sandy Hook, CT; a brother, Peter Mandia (Geraldine) of FL; a sister, Geraldine Loehlein (Don) of MT; six grandchildren. Bill was born August 11, 1928 in Flushing, NY. He spent his childhood there, after which he married the late Dorothy (Lynagh) Mandia. Together they raised their children in Smithtown, NY, and afterward relocated to Brookfield, CT in 1972. Six years later, he moved to and then retired in Ossining, NY. For over 40 years, he specialized in the home and commercial security industry. After retirement, he was self-employed as a private investigator and a general contractor. Bill was a lifelong and avid Yankees fan who was privileged to watch many great baseball players at the old Yankee Stadium. He possessed a wonderful sense of humor and passionate love of gardening and cooking, which was enjoyed by his friends and family alike. His pleasure in traveling to several tropical paradises with a longtime friend and companion enriched his life. He cherished time with family and friends and enjoyed honing his skills as a wood craftsman. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, 6-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Augustine Church in Croton, NY on Wednesday at 10 AM. Burial Services will follow at Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor, NY.
