Elizabeth Hannigan - Class of 1966

    Elizabeth M Hannigan born October 31, 1948 in Newburgh, passed away peacefully at The Pines in Poughkeepsie NY on January 6, 2025.

Known as Aunt Betty to everyone she was able to have many adventures in her 76 years of life. She graduated Newburgh Free Academy in 1966 and she was second runner up of Miss Palisades. Aunt Betty graduated with her bachelors degree with a 4.0 GPA from University of Maryland. Aunt Betty retired from Lockheed Martin after forty plus years of service. Aunt Betty loved all her Malteses Pebbles, Bambea, Buttons. She traveled to Ireland where she learned so much of her family heritage. An avid reader she enjoyed networking with the authors and book clubs.

Aunt Betty was predeceased by her parents James and Elizabeth (Rotchford) Hannigan and her four brothers Dennis, Daniel, Michael and James, her brother-in-law John Antonelli and Sister-in-law Mim Hannigan and great great nephew Baby James Thompson.

Aunt Betty is survived by her sister Ellen Antonelli, numerous niece's and nephews, numerous great niece's and nephews and many friends from all over the country.

We want to say thank you to The Pines and Ulster County Hospice for the past four years of caring for Aunt Betty. A special thank you to Sarah, Lauren and Vivian. The three of you loved her as much as we do and we are forever grateful.

Aunt Betty you are loved so much that losing you will be so hard. We will never forget you and all the memories we made. Now have fun driving your brothers and Johnny crazy!

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, January 11 at 12 PM, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery. - October 31, 1948 ~ January 6, 2025
