Elaine Cooper Maurice - Class of 1962

    Elaine Cooper Maurice was a life long resident of Vails Gate and Newburgh born to Joseph and Freda Cooper on March 17, 1944. She graduated from Newburgh Free Academy in 1962. She married Frank Maurice in Newburgh on August 5, 1962. In her early years, Elaine enjoyed art and painting having gifted her creations to family members.

Along with being a devoted mother, wife, and wonderful cook, she had a passion for country antiques and pursued a successful career in antiques for 25 years. She enjoyed visiting family, especially her grandchildren, taking them to the Bronx Zoo, local farms hikes exploring nature and trips to Pt. Pleasant Beach NJ. Elaine was passionate about the welfare of all animals and was devoted to her many pet cats over the years. She had a green thumb and loved growing vegetables in her garden and tending to her flowers and plants. Elaine will be remembered by her infectious smile, always loving personality and giving heartfelt hugs.

Elaine is predeceased by her husband, Frank Maurice. She is survived by her daughter, her two grandchildren and close partner.

May she now rest in peace after a long journey with Alzheimer's. Thank you to the nurses at Fishkill Rehabilitation and Nursing Home for taking such good care of Elaine.

Elaine is being cremated and will be buried at Woodlawn Cemetery along side her mother and father. A memorial visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home on Saturday, January 18 from 10 AM - 12 PM, followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. - March 17, 1944 ~ January 1, 2025
