Vito DiCesare Sr. - Class of 1942

Vito P. DiCesare, Sr., 86, of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, formerly of Newburgh, NY, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2010.
The son of the late Pasquale and Mary Rotundo DiCesare, he was born July 26, 1923, in Newburgh.
Vito married his sweetheart since the 8th grade, Grace Barrar. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force Engineers in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a decorated combat veteran. He worked at DuPont, Stauffer and St. Luke's Hospital before moving to Florida in 1993.
Vito was an avid dart ball player and a member of the Dart Ball Hall of Fame and enjoyed watching his ball games, specifically the Mets. Vito was a steadfast and devoted husband, a dependable father and a kindhearted grandfather. He believed in old fashioned principles and was a man of honor.
Survivors include his loving wife, Grace; his children: sons, Vito DiCesare, Jr. and his wife, Patricia of Newburgh and Patrick DiCesare of Central Valley, and daughter, Nancy Hunt and her husband, Gary of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; his grandchildren: Christopher DiCesare and his wife, Rita, Nicole Dauchy and her husband, Todd, Melissa DiCesare, Jesse Hunt and his wife, Deanna, Shep DiCesare and his wife, Nicole, Dylan Hunt, and Stacey Young and her husband, Robert and great-grandchildren: Susan and Matthew DiCesare, Megan and Bryan Dauchy and Jenna and April Hunt. He is also survived by a brother, Joseph DiCesare of Wallkill and a sister-in-law, Virginia Borbas of Massachusetts, as well as five nieces and nephews. Additionally, he leaves behind his faithful dog and companion for the last 15 years, Rufus.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 1, at 1 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor, NY. Published by Times Herald-Record on Apr. 18, 2010.
