Harold Barger Jr. - Class of 1951

    Harold Barger Jr of Middletown, NY, formerly of Montgomery NY, a lifelong area resident passed away in the early morning hours on March 10, 2025, with his loving daughter by his side at Highland Rehabilitation & Nursing Home, Middletown, NY. He was 91.

The son of the late Harold Barger Sr and Beulah Beck, he was born August 23, 1933, in Cornwall, NY.

Harold was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, Newburgh, NY. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the Carpenters Local Union #279, Hopewell Junction, NY, working in different capacities including Business Agent. Harold enjoyed visiting with family, hunting, fishing, building furniture, antiquing, and coin collecting, among other interests.

Harold is survived by his loving and dedicated daughter, Cheryl Smiley of Monticello; loving son, David Barger of Kingston (Laurie); a cherished granddaughter, Krista Gonzalez (Eugene); and his two very dear great grandchildren, Adelynd and Xavier. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Harold was predeceased by his loving and devoted wife of 70 years, Mary Jo Barger, and sister, Thelma Barger.

Per Harold’s wishes, there will be no funeral services.
