Frances Sanches Schoonmaker - Class of 1958 - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Frances (Fran) Laura Schoonmaker (Sanches) at the age of 84. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 2, 2025.

Born on October 1, 1940 in Newburgh, New York. Fran lived a life centered around love, family, and unwavering devotion to those closest to her.

Fran was married for 60 years to her loving husband, Neil Schoonmaker. Together they built a home filled with warmth and laughter, raising three children: David Schoonmaker, Lisa Baker, and Susan Ferreira. Fran's legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren-Connor Schoonmaker, Alexandra Schoonmaker, Avery Schoonmaker, Kayla Adov, Megan Baker, Andrew Baker, Kristine Freed, and Kenny Ferreira, great-grandchild Eleanor Adov, and nieces Jill Angele and Kathy Coss.

A dedicated wife and loving mother, Fran was the heart of the family, the glue that held everyone together. She never missed a birthday, holiday, or anniversary. Her closet was always stocked with gifts for every occasion-a testament to her thoughtfulness and joy in giving. Fran loved her family fiercely and there wasn't anything she wouldn't do for them.

Fran found joy in simple pleasures: knitting, crocheting, baking, and gardening with care and creativity. She enjoyed camping trips shared with her camping group and family. She often went on shopping excursions that ended with treasures meant for loved ones. Fran also shared her favorite musicals & show tunes with her grandchildren, giving them the gift of a shared love of her favorite music and shows to remember her by. Her hobbies and interests reflected her generous spirit and deep appreciation for connection with friends and family.

Fran was preceded in death by her father Simon Sanches, mother Edna Sanches, sister Dolores Angele.

May Fran's memory bring comfort to those who knew her and continue to inspire love and unity within the family they so deeply cherished.
