Stephen Peter Jacobs, LTC Air Force (ret) "Jake" - The Lord called home
Stephen Peter Jacobs, 75, of Elk Grove, California at 4:15 am on 04.01.2025.
With the help of family and friends, he got his final wish to pass peacefully
at home.
Stephen was born on July 27, 1949, to James Lawerence and Ellen
Margaret (O’Donnell) Jacobs at St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh, New York.
Stephen attended Balmville School (K) and St. Mary’s Catholic School (1-8)
in Newburgh, New York. From 9-12 grades he attended the Newburgh Free Academy
and graduated in 1967.
After High School he attend St. Michael’s College
in Vermont. He was a member of the Glee Club and enjoyed the many singing
venues. On May 30, 1971, he was commissioned into the United States Air Force as
a 2ND Lieutenant. Upon graduation from college, he was gifted his pride and joy,
a 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass. He drove the Cutlass to Sacramento, California where
he attended Navigator training at Mather Air Force Base.
On June 03,
1972, he married Jo Ann Schaetzl. They moved to Sacramento, California with his
Air Force career. They had one daughter, Carrie Ann Jacobs (b. 09/16/1976)
His Air Force career continued until he retired on December 31, 1993
(serving 22 years 7 months and 1 day). He served in the Vietnam War, Desert
Shield and Desert Storm. He served as a KC 135 Navigator/Refueler for the 940th
ARW (Air Refueling Wing/Beale AFB). He retired as a Lt. Colonel of the USAF.
In addition, he attended the California State University of Sacramento and
completed his Masters in Accounting Degree to become a self-employed CPA. After
selling his practice, he became a full time CPA for the State of California
Franchise Tax Board. He retired from this position on 11/01/2004.
On
October 05, 2003, he married Connie Lynne Clark. They traveled to Australia,
New Zealand, Fiji, England, the Baltic countries, and China to name a few. He
enjoyed meeting people from all over the world. His most cherished memories were
time spent with his family. He was a past Commodore of the Lake Washington
Sailing Club and past Secretary/Treasurer of the PICYA. He will be remembered
for his love of sailing. I will sail my vessel ‘til the river runs dry…
He is survived by his wife, Connie of 21 years; his daughter, Carrie (Brian)
Benyuska; his granddaughters, Kylie Ann, and Abby Jo; his sister, Susan (Vince)
Moresco; his niece, Caitlin (Benjamin) Lazarski and their children, Jacob, and
Zofia; and many loving relatives and friends.
He will be laid to rest in
the Sacramento Valley National Cemetary in Dixon, California on April 15, 2025,
at 2:30 pm. Stephen’s Celebration of Life will follow the ceremony at 3:15 pm at
the Cattlemens - Dixon, 250 Dorset Drive, Dixon, California 95620. 7/27/1949 -
