Alan Leontovich - Teacher

    Alan C. Leontovich, of Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY, a retired Music Teacher from the Newburgh Enlarged City School District died on April 25, 2025. He was 93 years of age.

Son of the late Anna and Constantine Leontovich, Alan was born on June 17, 1931 in Mayfield, PA. After serving in the US Air Force, he graduated from New York University majoring in music education. He taught school in White Plains, Port Chester and Newburgh, NY retiring in 1986.

Alan was very active in the Newburgh Teachers Association, serving at one time as President, Negotiator, Grievance Chairperson and delegate to NYSTA, the NEA, the AFT and NYSUT. Alan is credited with building the NTA's Benefit Trust Fund.

Alan was a golfer/duffer and enjoyed spending time on the links locally and in New Smyrna Beach, FL whenever he could.

Surviving are his caring and loving wife Janet and two sons, Gregory (Melissa) of Atlanta, GA and David (Colleen) of Medical Lake, WA. Alan was predeceased by his brothers Boris, Edward and Nicholas and by his sister Eugenia

Interment will take place at Willow Dell Cemetery in Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY at a later date.
