Sallie Lorell Holiday Jennings was born on March 6th, 1940, in Newburgh, New York to the proud parents of Lola Lorell Joe and George Benjamin Holiday. She was the only child in that union.

Sallie attended the Catholic School up to the 8th grade, then attended North Junior High School, and graduated from NFA High School. She completed her education by attending the Hunter College of the University of New York and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education on June 14, 1962.

She met her late husband Gerald Jennings in New York, traveled to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands and was married on January 3, 1975, and was married to him for 36 years until he died due to illness. She has no biological children of her own but had 8 grown step children; Roylee and Frederick Lettsome, Lorenzo, Keith and Gerald Jennings, Elsena Lettsome, Carmen Staley, and Jacqueline Jennings Arnold.
Sallie was an educator and worked for the Government of the Virgin Islands in the Department of Education. She taught fourth grade at the Lockhart Elementary School for many years. She retired from the Government of the Virgin Islands in 1991 because of illness.

She was a woman of few words, but when she spoke she made those words count. She was an excellent step mother. She never murmured or complained. A beautiful person inside and out. She will be greatly missed.
