Angel Olavarria, Jr., of the Town of Newburgh, entered into rest, Tuesday, June 17, 2025, He was 58.

Son of Maria J. Johansen and the late Angel Olavarria, Sr., he was born August 26, 1966 in Newburgh, NY.

A lifelong area resident, Angel was a graduate of Baruch College and worked as a Graphic Designer.

His love of the outdoors and nature lead him to many hiking and camping trips. He enjoyed cooking and he was an avid animal lover.

Survivors include his mother, Maria J. Johansen and stepfather, Bob Tyler of the Town of Newburgh; sister, Jacqueline (Kevin) McSpedon of East Fishkill; a nephew Christian McSpedon; friend, Karen Marcellino and beloved rescue cat, Gatto.

Private cremation has taken place at Cedar Hill Crematory.

Plans for a Celebration of Angel’s Life will be announced at a later date.

Donations in Angel’s memory can be made to the Town of Newburgh Animal Shelter at 645 Gidney Avenue, NY 12550. Whether in form of money or much needed supplies.
