James A. (Jim) Uva, a lifelong resident of Walden, NY, entered into eternal peace on Wednesday June 25th, 2025. He was 69 years old.

Born on October 24th, 1955, in West Point NY, he was the beloved son of Evelyn and Lawrence Uva of Newburgh NY, and the eldest of their four children, Lauren, Lisa and Mark.

James spent his early years in Stony Point, NY surrounded by a big loving family enjoying all kinds of adventures near the Hudson River and Bear Mountain.

Having then moved to Meadow Hill in Newburgh, he was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, where he enjoyed countless fun times and experiences with his family and friends, many that he still kept in touch with.

He retired three years ago from his long tenure at Fair-rite Products in Wallkill, NY as Press Set-up. He was known for his knack and skill to be able to fix just about anything. He enjoyed the close friendships he had with many of his co-workers.

James had one big hobby and interest his entire life – the need for speed. His love of anything that went fast was well known, cars, motorcycles, dirt bikes, particularly the classic American muscle car. He was a true "motorhead", who was known for owning, fixing, racing, rebuilding just about every muscle car you could think of, especially his favorite, the Pontiac GTO and Corvette.

He was also an avid rock music lover, with his favorite band being The Beatles, along with anything else he could play loudly while cruising in his sports car. He was a big Star Wars fan as well.

He is survived by his loving daughter Christina (Uva) Ghiorse and her husband Evan. He was a proud grandpa to their son Luke. His devoted mother Evelyn Uva, his loving sisters Lauren Range (Ken), and Lisa Sager (Bill), and his brother Mark Uva. His very best friend of over 50 years, Jack Stroup. His nieces and nephews, Robert, Maria, Matthew, Madison, William, Brittany and Crystal, his Aunt Ella and Uncle Ralph, along with several cousins, and great nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his devoted father Lawrence Uva, who we know welcomed him home with open arms.

He will be dearly missed and thought of every day.

Please join us to remember him at a funeral mass on Tuesday July 1st at 10:30am at St. Patrick's Church in Newburgh, NY. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Newburgh, NY.

In lieu of flowers, his daughter asks that you consider reconnecting with a loved one, and spending more time with those you love, doing the things you love. Memorial donations, if you are so inclined, may be made to any charity close to your heart. - October 24, 1955 ~ June 25, 2025
