    Mary Ann Thompson  -  June 2, 1932 ~ July 27, 2025

Mary Thompson, born on June 2, 1932, a lifelong resident of Newburgh, New York passed peacefully in her sleep on July 27, 2025 at 93 years old.

In 1951 she married Ralph Thompson of Newburgh, NY and had five children who were all raised in Newburgh.

When her children were in high school, she found employment at The Stroock Shop in Newburgh. She started as a salesclerk, soon became principal buyer and then Owner.

She was an active member and troop leader of The Girl Scouts of America for many years and a proud member of the YWCA in the City of Newburgh. Mary loved to knit, crochet, sew and garden. She truly had a "green thumb."

Mary was an excellent Bridge player, an American Contract Bridge Association Director and past president of the Hudson Valley Bridge Association. Not only did she love to play bridge, but she also loved to teach the game anyone interested. While Mary's greatest passion was playing Bridge, her greatest love was her family.

Mary is predeceased by Ralph E. Thompson Sr. and survived by her five children, Donna Baietti, Denise DeMichiel, Ralph Thompson Jr., his wife Sondra, Mary Ann Thompson, Darlene Trento, her husband Christopher, her nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will take place on Friday August 8, 2025 at Sacred Heart Church, 301 Ann Street, Newburgh. Greetings begin at 10:30am followed by mass at 11:00am. After mass the family will host a celebration of life from 1pm-3pm at the Powelton Club.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the outstanding care Mary received over the past few weeks from Montifiore St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital and the Kaplan Family Hospice House.
